Vineyard and vinification

Grape varieties

Chenin draws its wealth on the soils of beige schists in the communes of Soulaine-sur-Aubance and Saint-Melaine-sur-Aubance. The morning mists favored by the proximity of the Aubance, small winding river, favors in this sector the development of Botrytis cinerea and noble rot, thus giving wonderful dry whites surmuris and majestic mellows.

Cabernet franc

The Cabernet franc planted on the blue shales of an old quarries of open slates at Juigné-sur-Loire has found its preferred soils and heat to concentrate its berries and thus obtain a beautiful maturity. This is expressed by an aromatic power of red and black fruits, an elegance and a floral finesse, without forgetting in the end its precious smoked empyreumatic aroma.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon expresses itself wonderfully in the village of Saint Jean des Mauvrets where it meets a soil of deep blue schists covered with clay on the surface. The maturity of the vine perfectly mastered will make it possible to obtain harmonious “full” red wines with a particularly charming velvety structure. This wine becomes the indispensable complement to the Cabernet Franc produced in the neighboring village.

Gamay and Grolleau

Gamay and Grolleau harvested at Saint-Saturnin-sur-Loire give fruity rosé wines with the scent of wild strawberries, raspberries and gooseberries supported by a delicate gourmet structure initiated thanks to their clay-gravel soils at the tip of shale or on certain parcels of limestone.

Chardonnay and Sauvignon

Chardonnay and Sauvignon express frankly their characteristics on the schists of Juigné sur Loire. They give fruity wines, fresh and pleasant to taste at any time, with their aromas of ripe fruit and white flowers.

Our soils

Positioned on the edge of the Armorican massif and the Parisian basin, the Domaine de Gagnebert, with its eighty acres, boasts an assortment of soils that matches its Loire vine varieties:

Wine-tasting cellar

A bridge between the grapes that we produce and the bottles we sell, it is separated into two distinct parts: the winery and the wine-tasting cellar.

The winery has evolved over 5 generations to follow modern production techniques. It is equipped with more and more respectful tools. In particular pneumatic presses to limit the trituration of the grape harvest, the thermo-regulated tanks to control the fermentations and the tangential filtration system for the preservation of the aromas, the color and the structure of the wines.

This material combined with the knowledge acquired over the generations allows us to preserve the originality of our soils, and the quality of our culture.

The wine-tasting cellar has been arranged in the original winemaking cellar of the domain. Its exposed stone walls of local schist, give an ideal atmosphere for the discovery of our wines. Let yourself be guided by a member of our team who will advise you in the choice of your wines.

The cellar is open from Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 19:00 and Saturday from 9:00 to 12:00 and from 15:00 to 19:00. We offer services for groups under reservation. Do not hesitate to contact us.
